Our motivation for this work comes from the experience of living in Africa and witnessing dire poverty, exploitation of the people and Africa's natural resources.
According to Gallup's new Basic Needs Vulnerability Index, based on surveys in 142 countries in 2019, about one in seven of the world's adults -- or about 750 million people -- fall into this index's "High Vulnerability" group, which means they are struggling to afford either food or shelter, or struggling to afford both.
GACI raises funds to provide meal programs for children and youth 5-15 years of age. Our goal is to provide access to at least one nutrious meal every week and more when funding allows.
Our anti-poverty agenda involves increasing opportunities for youth and women to create small businesses. GACI seeks to proide support in the form of start up funds, training and ongoing business coaching.
Our Healthy Communities Healthy Environments initiative aims to create healthier african communities through education, advocacy and support for youth sports and recreation.
We raise funds to help pay for soccer uniforms, sports field rental, sports equipment and food and beverages at soccer tournaments.
We carry out campaigns that promote healthy choices to reduce the spread of disease such as cooking safety, HIV-AIDS prevention, COVID-19 safety strategies, and eliminating environmental hazards through waste reduction and air pollution prevention.
